• Thorough Rinsing: After every outing, a quick hose-down isn’t enough. It is vital to flush the engine (following the manufacturer’s recommendations) and clean all metal parts and windows with fresh water and specific cleaning products.
• Protection of Electrical Components: Terminals and electrical connections are the first to suffer. Use moisture-repellent protective sprays on control panels and exposed connections to prevent “false contacts” and oxidation.

2. The Sun: The Greatest Enemy of Exterior Materials

• Selecting the Right Antifouling: Not all antifouling paints perform the same way. In our region, it is essential to choose a product with high biocidal capacity, specifically suited to the temperature of our waters.
• Anode Inspection: On the Costa del Sol, due to the high salinity, sacrificial anodes tend to wear out faster. Check them every few months; if they are 50% worn, replace them. It is the cheapest way to avoid corrosion on propellers, shafts, and outdrives.
